Languages
As a Switzerland-wide winter sports camp, JUSKILA is conducted in the three official Swiss languages of French, Italian and German. You must be fluent in one of these languages to participate.
Camp location
JUSKILA is held in Lenk in the Bernese Oberland every year.
Fees
The camp fee for JUSKILA is CHF 120. The fee includes train tickets valid within Switzerland, food, accommodation, a ski pass, and snow sports instruction. Any equipment rental for skiers (skis, poles and ski boots) is an additional CHF 50, while snowboarders (snowboard and snowboard boots) pay a rental fee of CHF 50.
Parents are responsible for travel costs to and from Switzerland for all our camps.
Financial support
In keeping with our Foundation’s purpose, the FYSA wants to ensure that all young Swiss Abroad between the ages of 8 and 14 have the chance to experience at least one camp in Switzerland, regardless of their family’s financial situation. We provide financial support towards the camp fees and/or travel expenses. More information on applying for reduced fees is available here.
Arrival and departure
Everyone travels to and from JUSKILA by train. You will receive a day pass and luggage vouchers for the train from SBB Swiss Federal Railways. The train schedules will be published on the JUSKILA homepage as of mid-December so that you can plan your trip and see where you can board the train. Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up their child from the respective arrival or departure train station.
Individual arrivals directly at JUSKILA in Lenk are not possible.
Participants
Around 600 young people from Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein take part in JUSKILA every year, including 25 young Swiss Abroad each time.
Leadership team
Around 150 camp leaders from Switzerland volunteer at JUSKILA each year. Without their enthusiastic involvement, this ambitious project would not be possible.
Programme
JUSKILA is a project founded by Swiss-Ski, which organises and runs it as the largest winter sports camp in Switzerland. Its programme focuses primarily on winter sports.
Insurance
The FYSA has taken out supplementary accident insurance for its young Swiss Abroad participants. The terms and benefits of this insurance will be provided to the young people who are chosen to participate.
Accommodation
Dormitory buildings are used for accommodation at JUSKILA. They are simple but well-furnished camp buildings with dormitory rooms that offer enough space for everyone. There are separate buildings for girls and boys.
Meals
Morning and evening meals are served in the main building of the Culture and Sports Centre in Lenk. The midday meal is eaten at a mountain restaurant close to the ski slopes.
